COVID-19 Testing and Treatment
COVID-19 Treatment FAQ
If medically eligible, you may be prescribed a COVID-19 antiviral medication such as Paxlovid, which has been shown to lower the risk of serious illness.
At this time, antiviral treatments administered through an I.V. (such as Veklury, also known as Remdesivir) are only available in hospital settings for certain COVID-19 patients requiring hospitalization.
Antiviral oral pills, Molnupiravir (developed by Merck/Ridgeback Biotherapeutics) and Ritonavir (developed by Pfizer), have both been submitted to the FDA for emergency use authorization.
COVID-19 antiviral medication is available by prescription only for adult patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 who receive a positive SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic test result and who have at least one risk factor for developing severe illness.
